YOGI RENÈ [Renè David Alkalay, PhD, ND, AFAA]
Yogi Renè is a teacher, healer and author. He started his journey on the path to enlightenment as a student of yoga and meditation in 1958, studying with such outstanding teachers as Richard Hittelman, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Satchidenanda, BKS Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois, and Srivatsa Ramaswami. He met his master, Sri Swami Rama in 1983 and was initiated into the Himalayan tradition by Swamiji in 1986. Yogi Renè is a lifelong student of Kriya, Kundalini and Tantra Yoga. At his initiation, Swamiji revealed the personal mission that Yogi Renè was to fulfill, to teach and to transmit a tradition of meditation and interfaith understanding to future generations of spiritual aspirants. As a jnana yogi, he is a student and teacher of a number of disciplines of metaphysical and esoteric knowledge including Judaism, Christianity, Daoism, Buddhism and several forms of ancient Pagan religions and philosophies.
Finding that his spiritual journey was reawakening a desire to reconnect with his faith, Yogi Renè went on to receive a PhD in Divinity with concentration on comparative religion and pastoral counseling. Studies in Judaism have been at Yeshiva Hofetz Chaim, Havurat Yisrael Adult Study Program and private study with Rabbi David Algaze. His teachers include Arye Kaplan, Rabbi Simcha Ashlag and Adin Stensaltz.
In addition to his spiritual path, Yogi Renè has trained in holistic health and nutrition. He holds an ND degree and a PhD in Nutrition and is certified in Biosyntonic Therapy, Yoga Therapy, Ophanim, Reiki, Bio and Neurofeedback Therapy, and is a Diplomate of The National Registry of Neurofeedback Providers. He is trained in CB Therapy, Imagery Therapy and Suggestopedia.
In 1988 he founded, and has served as Chairman of the Board, of The Genesis Society, a 501(C)3 not-for-profit organization, with the mission to develop a holistic paradigm, one that integrates cultures and peoples by promoting cross-cultural understanding and cooperation. The programs he developed under the auspices of Genesis Society include: East-West Center for Interfaith Studies, The Genesis Center for Environmental Studies and The Tree of Life Yoga and Wellness Center.
A much loved speaker and teacher, Yogi Renè is a life-long student of meditation, Yoga science, Kabbalah, and the religious and philosophical texts of the East and West, and is the author of numerous articles and books. In private practice as a naturopathic practitioner since 1980, he provides holistic services at the Wellness Center offering help with nutrition, weight management, pain and illnesses, fitness and holistic treatment for cancer patients.
